The former council leader of Scotland’s biggest city has been arrested and charged with fraud.
Labour councillor Frank McAveety was in charge of Glasgow City Council between 2015 and 2017.
Detectives told Sky News that a 62-year-old man has been arrested as part of a probe examining alleged “fraud offences”.
Scottish Labour has been approached for comment.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 62-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with fraud offences in the Glasgow area between 2022 and 2024.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
